With huge strides being made in the field of dentistry, it has become a rapidly evolving and expanding profession offering dental practitioners a wealth of opportunities, challenges and rewards. Dentists play an important role in preventing and rehabilitating patients with oral and dental diseases and enhancing aesthetics with various cosmetic procedures. Dentists are often the first health care professionals to identify oral cancer and recognize a wide range of systemic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. Over the years there has been a paradigm shift in the attitude of the general public towards oral health and dental problems due to which the demand for dentists and specialists has increased. From primitive methods of extracting teeth due to decay to the booming world of restorative and cosmetic dentistry, our profession has evolved and come a long way. The future of the specialty looks promising with the integration of the latest cutting edge technology and imaging systems which will enable better diagnosis and treatment delivery, making the practice of dentistry even more rewarding and exciting than it is today. Since its inception, the College has had a tradition of educating and training its students to provide the highest quality patient-centered clinical care in a variety of clinical settings. Changing with time, we take pride in offering Student Centric Outcome Based Education and a variety of value added courses that will enable us to produce professionals of high moral calibre and academic and clinical skills of internationally acceptable standards. The University, with its state of the art infrastructure, has created excellent teaching and learning resources and modern on-campus facilities organized to facilitate student care and nurture talent in a creative and innovative environment. The simulation center, technology incubator and Yenepoya research center have been developed to enrich the academic experience and stimulate thought processes among students. To promote sports and extra-curricular activities and help students unwind, the University is equipped with a large indoor sports complex, gym, soccer ground outdoor recreation space (Yenviron) and an art club (group aesthete). Just like the caterpillar that undergoes various stages of development to emerge as a beautiful butterfly, we train and prepare our students at each stage so that at the end of the dental program, they mature into responsible professionals eager to serve the society.
